A hiker, mountain biker, and runner with 20 years’ experience in hospitality and tourism has been selected as the new Convention & Visitors Bureau President and CEO.
Terence Concannon, 54, from Pismo Beach, Calif., replaces interim CVB leader Chip Shilosky who has retired.
“This is an amazing community with a lot to offer,” Concannon says. “The people here, visitors and locals alike, love Lake Havasu City and I’m proud to be a part of it and to spread the word to the nation and the world about how great it is to vacation or live here.”
Concannon is the former director of sales and marketing for the Dolphin Bay Resort & Spa in Pismo Beach, Calif. He previously served as the president of the board of Pismo Beach Convention & Visitors Bureau. He is originally from Seattle and has a grown daughter.
Concannon graduated with an undergraduate degree in communications from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. He has a graduate degree in photography from Ohio State University.
He says, “On both a personal and professional level, I am excited by the variety of outdoor adventure opportunities and world-class events that Lake Havasu City has to offer, along with excellent lodging properties and restaurants.
“The city is great for families, millennials, senior citizens – this town offers something for every demographic and personal interest. As a newcomer to the area, I am impressed by the pride residents take in their community and the graciousness they’ve shown me in my short time here.”
It’s too early to say, but Concannon has an eye on improving the GoLakeHavasu.com website, increasing international outreach, working closer with the Arizona Office of Tourism, and enhancing the community’s engagement with the Convention & Visitors Bureau through regular and consistent communications.
Meanwhile, on his rare time off, you’ll likely find him enjoying many of the outdoor activities that have made this region famous worldwide.
