Major Event Submission Criteria

Go Lake Havasu adheres to its primary mission of promoting tourism to Lake Havasu City. Events that qualify for the Major Events calendar have at least one of the following criteria: the event brings tourists/participants to the city, the event has a strong appeal to short-term tourists, the event has an impact on either marine and/or public land access. Go Lake Havasu reserves the right to edit all event submissions and listings to improve descriptions and to clearly communicate event logistics. The decision to list an event is at the sole discretion of Go Lake Havasu. The most important factors considered are as follows:

  • Is it open to the public?
  • Does it take place within or near to Lake Havasu City?
  • Is it non-political?
  • Is it a one-time event? If it's weekly, monthly, or occurring over a long period, we would be glad to consider adding it to our Local Happenings page, but we cannot add it to the major events calendar.
  • Does it have a definitive start and end date?
  • Events of a religious nature are considered on a case-by-case basis if conducted on secular property during a religious holiday.

Events that do not meet our criteria

Due the volume of events in Lake Havasu City, we do not consider the following for placement on the major event calendar:

  • Events primarily organized for commercial sales and promotional purposes (i.e. grand openings, business anniversaries, sales or specials).
  • Educational seminars and support group meetings.
  • Classes spanning several weeks.
  • Social gatherings or meetings for business networking purposes.
  • Small rummage sales, block parties, yard/garage sales, or other neighborhood events.
  • Events held in private homes.
  • School/community athletic events.
  • Weekly live music at bars and restaurants.
  • Weekly religious services and other non-secular events.
  • Political events
  • Events where membership is required.
  • An event that a tourist can not easily participate due to not having the knowledge, skill set or equipment, unless spectating is easy and possible.
