First is Monster Storm, October 12 – 14, at The Nautical Beachfront Resort, 1000 N McCulloch Blvd. Formerly known as Monster Bash, Storm Poker Runs is organizing the 8th annual Monster Storm as a Halloween-themed Poker Run. Teaming up with the on-line boating forum, River Dave’s Place (RDP), there will be a simultaneous celebration of the 10th anniversary RDP Regatta.
Monster Storm is being reinvented this year to enhance spectator access to the event activities, such as meeting Bob Teague, owner of Teague Customer Marine and an industry icon; as well as Win Farnsworth, owner of the “Low Altitude” turbine 50-foot Mystic boat. Throughout the weekend, there will be vendors and sponsored booths at The Nautical that are open to the public. It’s there that all can watch as the Monster Storm and RDP Regatta participants gather on rafts for the aerial photo. To add to the theme of the festivities, anyone planning to attend the awards and after-parties is encouraged to wear Halloween costumes.
The Monster Storm Poker Run is open to all boaters with the required insurance and registration documentation. Pre-registration is required; registration forms can be downloaded by clicking on the Monster Storm tab at StormPokerRun.com.
