For our “Havasu Magic” Photo Contest in October, we invited our faithful Facebook followers to send us their photos showing Lake Havasu City’s magic. We were not disappointed. Two winners were selected from 84 photos, both of which brilliantly captured our scenic shoreline set against a dramatic, otherworldly sky.
First place went to Janette Phillipps, a new full-time resident to Lake Havasu City, for her spectacular photo of a moonrise over the city. She will receive a $200 cash gift card for her work.
Second place went to Cathy Conner from Olympia, Wash., for a dramatic image of an orange sky painting the lake and mountains with a golden glow. She took it from The Islander and titles it, “Fire & Ice.” She will receive a $75 cash gift card.
Janette also took honorable mention for a photo of an iconic Lake Havasu lighthouse, silhouetted against the distant shoreline. The sky erupts in brilliant hues of orange, pink, purple and traces of blue.
A second honorable mention was awarded to Cindy Bell, from Corona, Calif., for the striking mirror-like reflection of the Arizona sky against the waters of Lake Havasu.
A third went to Gerardo Gonzalez of Lake Havasu City, for a perfectly-timed shot of a personal watercraft rider doing an expertly-executed backflip off the surface of Lake Havasu.
The Lake Havasu City Convention & Visitors Bureau thanks everyone who participated in this year’s photo contest. We look forward to seeing even more of your #HavasuMagic next year. Share this post and share the magic today. Come visit us soon!
