Havasu Landing Casino Ferry is a Winner

Are you feeling lucky? Anyone interested in trying their luck at the Havasu Landing Resort and Casino, on the California side of the lake, can get there quickly and safely. Here's how.

Owned by the Chemehuevi Indian Tribe, the superfast multi-million dollar catamaran (two hulls) called Tecopa, the word for wildcat in the native Chemehuevi language, carries passengers to and from Lake Havasu City in 16 to 18 minutes. Tecopa can carry 150 passengers at 30 mph, twice the speed and about a third more people than its predecessor, Dreamcatcher, which was refurbished and serves as back-up.

Painted white to reflect the heat, the air-conditioned ferry has high-resolution radar and forward-looking infrared sensors that can sense any heat source -- such as a disabled powerboat -- up to three-fourths of a mile away at night. The catamaran was designed to provide a smooth ride even on whitecap days.

The ferry departs from a terminal on the Arizona side, located next to English Village just north of the London Bridge along the Channel, with plenty of free parking nearby.
