RC Boats & Planes
Lake Havasu City's perfect weather conditions make this area ideal for all kinds of remote control vehicles. Whether it be by water, land, or air, we've got you covered!

RC Boats
If you're interested in learning more about radio controlled boats or have your own RC boat and want to hang out with other RC gearheads, the London Bridge Model Boat Club meets weekly at Rotary Park and all types of RC boats are welcome to come play. On average, RC boats have speeds upwards of 60-90 miles per hour, faster than most full-sized boats on the lake! Every February the club hosts their annual RC Boat Race under the London Bridge along the Channel. With over 10 years' experience putting on this event, it's a great event for all. In 2012, the club hosted the largest RC boat race in the country with 277 entries. The RC Boat Race is one of the largest RC races in the country and it happens right here in Lake Havasu City.
Visitors are welcome to come out and join in on the fun at Rotary Park for free or may join the club for a yearly membership of $20. It is also recommended that serious RC boaters join the national club, NAMBA (North American Model Boating Association), for a yearly membership of $45. These memberships are not at all required, but being a NAMBA member includes insurance, should there being an accident involving people or property.

RC Planes
The Desert Hawks Radio Control Club welcomes all types of planes and helicopters - from small electrics to turbine powered jets - to come use Sterling Field in SARA Park. Desert Hawks is an AMA -chartered club with low cost yearly memberships available to every AMA member (or for our Canadian friends who are MACC members). Every fall, the Desert Hawks also host a Seaplane Classic right next to the London Bridge combining the best of RC air and water.
Sterling Field is our newly renovated runway that nearly doubles the previous runway and is approximately 750 feet long x 60 feet wide with 75 feet of runoff on each end. The club facilities include two storage sheds, an indoor restroom, a shade structure covering the airplane assembly area and an event/meeting ramada. In addition, there are bleachers for visitors and events, safety fences to protect spectators, and pilot stations to protect pilots while they are flying. There are also starting stands for smaller planes and starting stations for larger planes. There is also a special area set aside for helicopters. The helicopter area has a concrete landing pad with a shade structure. The plane and helicopter fields are open 24 hours and access is available only to members who have the gate code. To become a member, visit the Desert Hawks website.
Hours
Daily (depending on weather conditions). Usually mornings are best however some of our members prefer afternoons when the field is less crowded.
If you're interested in getting into the hobby, a typical RC electric trainer airplane setup starts at about $200 and normally takes about 10-20 hours of training in order to be able to fly an RC airplane. There are computer flight simulators available that will help you to learn how to fly with no fear of crashing your new plane!
