Arizona Beach Named Best in North America
Fresh salt breezes, dolphins frolicking offshore:

Best Non-Ocean Beach in North America
Lake Havasu City has neither of these, but what it does have is the best non-ocean beach in North America, according to Yahoo!’s Wanderlust travel blog ( http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/wanderlust/ ). A recent posting ranks this Colorado River beach the “number 1 spot in North America for watery fun” ahead of Lake Travis, Tex., Sleeping Bear Dunes, Mich., and World Waterpark in West Edmonton, Alberta, among others.
The blog states that “Contrary to popular belief, Lake Havasu isn't just for beer-chugging Spring Breakers. It's actually a family-friendly vacation spot, with plenty of activities for both little kids (beaches and water sports) and big kids (casinos and off-roading).” All this without jellyfish, sharks or, yes - piranha.
More Than Just Watersports
The best lake beach in America, centrally located along 60 continuous miles of lake and river waterways, is surrounded by beautiful hiking country for those who want to stay dry, and powerboat, personal watercraft, kayak and stand up paddleboard (SUP) rentals for those who don’t. Visitors of all inclinations can stay at some of the best resorts in the southwest while they enjoy the mild winter at this Arizona beach.
“So if you love riptides, big waves, salt water eyes and shuffling your feet to avoid horseshoe crabs and stingrays, well, maybe Lake Havasu City isn’t for you,” jokes Douglas Traub, president/CEO of the Lake Havasu City Convention & Visitors Bureau.
