I was in for a real treat Tuesday, as I had the chance to not only take a tour of one of the city's most popular restaurants after they have completed and extensive remodel, but I also got a cooking lesson from one of the most experienced chefs I've ever met. More on that in a bit.
Shugrue's was built in Lake Havasu City in the late 80s. Since then, it has quickly become one of the most popular restaurants in town spawning a hole host of relative restaurants, Barley Brothers Bar and Micro-Brewery, Javelina Cantina, Makai Cafe and even another Shugrue's in Sedona.
Shugrue's has undergone a massive remodel, bringing the style up to the same level as the food. From floor to ceiling, and even the menu, things have been changed. Don't worry however, all the favorite dishes are still there, with some new ones thrown in as well.

After touring the restaurant, I got a lesson in sauce making from one of the regions best chefs, Chef Philippe. He walked me through the steps of making a Bearnaise sauce, and did it so simply that even I understood it.
You can hear it all in the podcast here.
